KERRY VAUGHN ERICKSON - Palette Knife Painting in Acrylics


Explore all the wild effects you can achieve in your painting with a palette knife!

From scraping and scratching, to heavy impasto layering, palette knives are a blast to use, and enable the painter to create textures and surfaces that are impossible to achieve with brushes. In this workshop Kerry will demonstrate a range of application techniques as well as share tips and tricks to help make your next painting experience fun, surprising and rewarding!

Workshop Date

Date: Saturday & Sunday Feb 25 & 26, 2017
Time: 10pm – 4pm
Location: Gallery 204, #200-20408 Douglas Crescent, Langley, BC
Class Fee: $240 + GST

Supplies

  • A variety of palette knives will be provided for your exploration
  • Acrylic paints
  • A canvas or panel - no smaller than 16 x 20 inches

Saturday
Students will learn how to prep their canvas and delineate their composition. Following this, there will be a demonstration on how to "block in" as well as ongoing demos throughout the day on how various effects can be achieved using different knife shapes.

Sunday
With guidance, Students will continue experimenting with a variety of knife shapes and bring their pieces to a finished state. Finally, there will be a discussion and demonstration focused on varnishing.
